Peter Underwood Tribute

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we digest the news that our great friend, Peter Underwood, was killed today in an accident while on a recruiting trip for the University of Nebraska. Peter was family to many of us at Capital, having served as our Director of Coaching in the Youth programs prior to join the UN-L full-time.

Peter was the consummate gentleman, a fabulous friend, an inerrant scholar, and a truly special and supremely gifted teacher.

In the years that come, those of us graced with the chance to spend time with Peter will sit and remember his amazing qualities, but for now, we are heartbroken and without words.

We will never forget the gift that was his genuine joy and gracious smile, but for now, we keep in our hearts and prayers his young family, a lovely young wife and two young children, all far too young to bury such a fine man, and lives now robbed of the gifts their husband and father bestowed to so many.

Thank you, Peter, for all you gave to those around you. The joy, happiness, and love of life and of The Beautiful Game.

Please keep our young players, who are just now processing this news, and Peter's wife Austin, and children Layla and Jude in your thoughts and prayers.

Godspeed, Pete.

For the Club,
Jeremy E. Kester
Youth Director of Coaching
