Wrap-Up of 4/3 Scrimmage / Preview of 4/5 & 4/6 Practices

49ers Team Parents

What an awesome start to the season, with yesterday's 4/3 scrimmage practice!!!
- We have a lot of very talented players on this team
- And all the kids were quick to learn the plays and assignments,
while also working w/ their new (and returning) teammates
    - Fantastic job to everyone!!!

This week starts our Tues / Wed team practice schedule
- From Sunday's practice, it seems like 1 1/2 hours is about the right duration for the team practice, so let's plan on a   6:30 - 8:00 pm (daylight permitting) weeknight practice time
- Please let us know if you will have any issues w/ this time

For the weeknight practices, please make sure to bring the following items:
- Mouthguard's
- Flag belts
- The team jerseys will only be required for Sunday scrimmages and games
(We'll have pennies available for the practices nights as needed)

And just two recommendations:
1) Under Jersey gear
    - For the cooler temps, thick hooded sweatshirts are convenient to wear and work
well to keep the kids warm, but the league does require that jerseys
(and everything under the jerseys) are tucked in to the pants / shorts,
and the full length of the flag belts are present and visible on the outside
-During our scrimmage, it seemed like the sweatshirts (especially with ones
with the front hand pockets) were having a difficult time staying tucked-in
         - Also, the hoods can be concern as well, as it could be accidentally pulled by
            a defender
              - Recommendation would be for the kids to use the thermal / Under Armor
                type shirts under the jerseys
2) Pre-Practice food consumption:
     - With the 6:30 - 8:00 practice time, I know it's tempting to have the kids "woof"
down some dinner before coming to the practice, but we will most likely start
every practice with some laps around the practice field
     - And belly full of steak & potatoes may not sit real well - JK
     - So just as a recommendation, a light and high energy type snack for the kids
may be better before the practice (Fruit, breads, etc)
     - And then dive into that perfectly grilled steak dinner when you get home
          - They definitely will be hungry after practice, and they may even eat more
of their veggies (no promises) - LOL

That it's it for now.
- Let us know if you will have any issues for this week's practices

Sincerely,
Eric Maddock
