SUNDAY
6/1 -
WARRIORS @ Hillsborough Mustangs: 2-1 (0-0)
|
A
great finish to a tough season in the top flight
of MNJYSA,
had the Warriors thinking "what if?" Despite
the many injuries and absences over the last few
weeks,
the team played some inspired soccer and fought
hard for their best win of the season against an
excellent Hillsborough Mustangs team. Some great
goalkeeping -inlcuding a PK save- by R. Callinan
and 2 goals by D. Vassiliadis (the first one
was probably the best he's ever scored with the
Warriors, and he has had a ...few), along with
great all around work by the whole team
allowed
the
Warriors
to finish their season on a high note!
Many thanks
to all the parents and players, including our injured
...warriors, that showed up to support us in this
last game of the season. We hope to see you back
next spring for another exciting Warriors Soccer
Season!!!

SATURDAY
5/31 -
WARRIORS @ Plainfield Red Falcons: 2-2 (1-1)
|
| A
tough game for the Warriors, playing with only
11 players after
the latest injuries that plagued the team, but one
they could have still one. They certainly had their
chances, but another PK (!!!) and a lapse in our
defense cost us a win. 2 nice goals by C. Telfer
and great hassle by everyone defined this game,
that ended with the first tie of the season for
the Warriors. |
SUNDAY
5/18 - WARRIORS vs. Morris Utd. Cyclones: 0-4
(0-0)
|
SUNDAY
5/11 -
WARRIORS @ Bridgewater Quakes: 3-1 (1-0)
|
SUNDAY
4/27 - WARRIORS vs. Clark Thunder: 4-1
(3-1)
|
| Better
play, better luck and finally a PK for us instead
of against us ;-) made the difference in this match.
Scoring the first goal didn't hurt either! Overall
a good day for the Warriors who keep their hopes
for a better finish in their flight alive. Also,
great to see T. Hagerty back on a Warriors uniform!!!

SUNDAY
4/27 -
WARRIORS @ New Providence United: 1-2 (1-2)
|
| No
comment; if you were there you know why. If not,
be happy you weren't... |
SATURDAY
4/26 -
WARRIORS vs. Westfield Turbine: 0-2 (0-2)
|
| A
tough loss against one of the better teams in our
flight.
A few minutes of undisciplined play in the first
half cost us 2 goals, and ultimately the game.
We controlled most of the second half but without
many good scoring opportunities to tie the game
up. Westfield had an excellent defense that managed
to keep our forwards away from their goalie most
of the game, and the few chances we got we didn't
take advantage of... |
| SUNDAY
4/20 - WARRIORS @ Berkeley Heights Bulldogs:
3-1 (3-1) |
| Our
first win of the year against our oldest rivals,
the BH Bulldogs. 2 early goals and a 3rd one midway
through the half put us on the driver's seat in
a very hard fought game.
BH
managed
to
make it a closer game just before the end of the
half, but our team played smart defense and counter-attacked
to maintain the 3-1 lead in the second half... |
| SATURDAY
4/12 - WARRIORS vs. Somerset Hills Spyders: 1-3
(1-2) |
| The
long layover didn't help the Warriors who came
out very sluggish and lost to a very strong and
physical Somerset Hills team. The first half
was a bit more balanced, with both teams having
chances to score and SH scoring just before the
end of the half to take the lead. However, the
second half was probably the worst half of the
recent Warriors history and even though the game
stayed close (1-2) until about 15' from time, the
final result was, unfortunately, a fair one... |
| SUNDAY
3/16 - WARRIORS vs. Lawrence Strikers: 0-3 (0-0) |
A
tough start for our Warriors that deserved better
than the final score indicates, in a very exciting
game played under tough field and weather conditions.
Considering it was our first outdoor game of the
season, with a new lineup, against last season's
flight 1 co-champs no less, we still did well,
but if some of our
many
chances had been rewarded the score could have
been much different, at the very least much closer... |
