WEEK
F MAKEUP: SAT
6/4: FLAMES/WILDCATS vs.
PENNINGTON POWER: 4-1 (2-1)
Our girls completed their
"perfect" season and officially captured
1st place in their
fligth with a 4-1 win over an undermanned Pennington
team that gave them all they could handle. 2 goals
in the first half by Bianca (2nd a PK) and a
last second PK (?) for Pennington made the score
2-1 at half time. In the second half, Kendra
blasted
one from the top of the box for a 3-1 lead, and
then Natacha pushed one in from close after
a scramble
in the box for the final 4-1 score.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GIRLS
FOR THEIR UNDEFEATED, UNTIED, CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON!

WEEK
J: SUN
5/22: FLAMES/WILDCATS vs.
BRANCHBURG FUSION: 6-1 (4-0)
A rather comfortable win for our girls.
A couple more goals, one in each half for Bianca
to go with an assist on Cristina's goal in the 2nd,
a goal by Kendra, Mary's (go defense!!!) 2nd of
the year and Melanie's 3rd, completed the scoring
for 6 goals. Shraddha had an assist and won a PK,
but
the goalie saved her shot to keep the final score
at
6-1. Great effort by everyone gave us a chance for
some "experimentation" with our line-up,
too.

WEEK
I: SUN
5/15: FLAMES/WILDCATS vs.
ABERDEEN-MATAWAN DRAGONS: 4-1 (2-0)
Another great win for our girls against
the previously undefeated Dragons. An early goal
(1') by Kendra put them on track, and when Bianca
made it 2-0 on a nice header, the game was under
control. Natacha had a big chance that bounced
off the crossbar and the half ended 2-0. Kendra
got her second of the day in the 2nd half to
make
it
3-0. After the Dragons made it 3-1 on an unlucky
miss of the ball in our box and a nice shot that
Emily tried but wasn't able to clear, Sam was
taken down in the box by the goalie and Bianca
put the PK away to finish the scoring for the
day.
The
thunder
and rain that was going on through most of the
second half got worse, and with about 7' to go
the game was called, and our girls had another
victory! 2 More to go...

WEEK
H: SUN 5/8: FLAMES/WILDCATS vs.
HOPEWELL VALLEY HEAT: 2-0 (1-0)
A very good win for our girls that sets
us up for a showdown with Aberdeen-Matawan next
Sunday, for first place in our flight. Two solid
halves, pretty much dominating play against a
Heat team that had no subs and was clearly outmanned.
Their goalies were excellent and kept the score
low, but Bianca got two more goals, off of Shraddha's
pass in the 1st half and Gina's corner in
the 2nd, and the defense once again
completely
shut-down their opponents for Emily's 3rd and
the team's 4th shutout of the season.

WEEK
G: SUN 5/1: FLAMES/WILDCATS @
UNION SC THUNDER: 5-0 (3-0)
Another dominating win for our girls,
with Emily and the defense earning another shutout,
again without allowing a shot on goal. Our girls
went up very early with Gina, and Melanie, with
Bianca adding a spectacular goal from outside
to make it 3-0 at half time. In the second, Sam
got 2 more goals and our girls hit the crossbar
a few more times (4 more posts/crossbars for
this game!) for the final 5-0 win.

WEEK
F MAKEUP: SAT 4/30: FLAMES/WILDCATS @
HUNTERDON INVASION: 5-0 (2-0)
Despite missing several players, the girls
took care of business, after scoring 5 goals and
hitting the post/crossbar another 3 times. Gina had
a shutout in her first appearance in goal, aided
by a stellar defence that didn't allow a single shot
on goal. Danielle had a great 1st half, scoring her
1st goal of the season and winning the PK to make
it 2-0, taken by Bianca. Cristina, Natacha (1st of
season) and Bianca with her second on the day, rounded
out the scoring in the second half. |
WEEK
A: SAT 4/23 - FLAMES/WILDCATS vs.
WESTFIELD SPIRIT: 3-1 (0-0)
Our girls go 3-0 with a win over Westfield.
After a scoreless 1st half that saw several chances
go unfinished, including a shot off the crossbar,
the girls found their scoring touch and took an early
2-0 lead with goals from Sam and Alexia on a FK.
Then on a PK (?) even though Emily saved the first
shot, Westfield made it interesting for a little
while, and a couple of crossbars' hit later, Cristina
finished off the scoring with a nice goal for a 3-1
win. |

ELIZABETH DESPORTIVO SPIDERS: 2-1 (1-1)
Second win of the season, with Melanie (1-0)
and Mary (2-1) getting their first goals of the season.
A dominating
performance for the most part, that wasn't followed
by enough scoring to make things easier for our girls,
but in the end they prevailed.
|
WEEK
B: SUN
3/20 - FLAMES/WILDCATS @
EAST BRUNSWICK HURRICANES:
4-0 (1-0)
Our girls win their first game of the season with
their first shutout (Emily) of the season. Playing
good soccer at times, they scored one goal (Kendra)
in the first half and 3 more (Kendra, Bianca, Gina)
in the second, to seal
their
victory and start the season on a positive
note.
